Show ORGANIZATIONS The Public Service Bureau The great cry of the world today is for people who can act. David Starr Jordan says, "Men formerly asked, 'What does he know?' Now they ask, 'What can he do?'" The motto of our educational systems today should be, "Let your thoughts be governed by action." Unless one has the ability to carry out his thoughts, his education is valueless. The Public Service Bureau was organized at the beginning of this school year, with the idea of benefiting the students by making their education practical. Although a pioneer in this line of work, this serviceable organization has been very successful, and programs have been rendered in nearly every ward in and around Ogden. While not every student has had a chance to be of service through the Public Service Bureau, many have, and have been a credit to themselves and the school they represent. However, there has been an indifference on the part of some of the students. They say, "It's too much work." Yes, it is work! But can we expect to live, succeed and pass away again without working? No! There is no reward without work, and the harder the work the greater the reward. Students, let's all work together in this educational organization let us show the officers whom we elected that we are behind them. Moreover, let us work with the officers and suggest to them anything that will be for the betterment of conditions. Let's all boost let no one knock. If we do this, the Public Service Bureau is bound to grow in the future as it has been doing in the past. Students, let's have your cooperation. Let's give the Public Service Bureau a good start this year, and in the future it can take care of itself. The Home Economics Club In our last meeting of January 6, Mrs. R. B. Porter, second vice president of the State Federation of Women's Clubs, and Mrs. Bichsel, secretary of the Federation, visited us. Mrs. Porter gave a short talk on "What the Federation Can Do for Us, and What We Can Do for the Federation." Refreshments were served and a jolly time was en joyed by all. ACORN 16 The German Club You haven't heard much about the German Club since the holidays. But never mind, they are doing things (secretly), and one of these days it will explode in a burst of entertainment that will startle the school. We Germans are a jolly bunch and don't intend to lie down and die without starting something. The Band The band is the greatest organization ever produced in Weber. Under the able direction of Prof. Nichols considerable work has been accomplished. We play at all basketball games, and in the devotional period. The band is the main attraction in Weber, as is shown by the great enthusiasm displayed when the band performs. Our matinee on January 27 proved that we are not slow.
