As a matter of fact, he delivered up the fourth driest batch of January weather in Salt Lake Citys history, according to G. K. Greening, weather bureau meteorologist in charge. Precipitation totaled but .40 inch, .91 inch below normal. The driest Jaunary on record was in 1919 when only a trace was recorded. The heaviest precipitation for January was recorded in 1940, with 3.90 inches. Snowfall for January was at a low of 2.9 inches. Only twice previously in the history of the city (at least for the past 75 years for which records are available), has their been less snow in Salt Lake City in January. This occurred in 1919 when January snow measured .1 inch and in 1900 when snow was recorded at 1.8 inch. For Thursday, the weatherman predicted increasing cloudiness but little change of temperature.
