Show William Home Lyman...Leader, native of Parowan, dies at 89. Prominent LDS Iron County Resident Dies 1948 Tribune Special PAROWAN, Iron County, Oct. 26 William Home Lyman, 89, one of Iron countys oldest residents and a prominent figure in southern Utah civic and political affairs for more than 50 years, died Tuesday at 2 a.m. at his home here of ailments incident to age. Mr. Lyman had served three terms as mayor of Parowan, was Iron county representative to the state legislature in 1925 to 26, was a member of the board of directors of the Bank of Iron County for 10 years, served as a school trustee for three terms and served in other positions. Active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints, he was a member of Parowan LDS stake high council and served in the Parowan LDS stake presidency for 10 years. He fulfilled a mission for the church in England in 1892 to 94. Born in Parowan Feb. 19, 1859, Mr. Lyman was a son of Amasa M. Lyman, member of the Council of Twelve Apostles of the LDS church, and Paulina Phelps Lyman. He resided his entire life in Parowan and was associated with the livestock and farming business in Iron county. He married Julia McGregor in the Manti LDS temple in October, 1888. She preceded him in death. Surviving are two sons, Mayor E. Ray Lyman of Parowan and Rulon M. Lyman, Parowan; three daughters, Mrs. Verda Adams, Carruthers, Cal.; Mrs. Leda Christensen, Port Collins, Colo., and Mrs. LaMar Whitaker, Salt Lake City; 16 grandchildren, and one great grandchild. Funeral services will be conducted Friday at 2 p.m. in Parowan East LDS ward chapel. Friends may call at the family home from noon until 2 p.m. Burial will be in Parowan city cemetery.
