Biographical/Historical Note Born 28 Jul 1818, Mt. Holly, Burlington, New Jersey. Married (1) Ann Bunting Dennis, 8 Sep 1837, Mount Holly, Burlington, New Jersey; (2) Mary Ann Patten, 22 Mar 1845, Nauvoo, Hancock, Illinois; (3) Ann Patten, 21 Jan 1849, Kainsville, Big Pigeon, Iowa; (4) Margaret Busby Crispin, 8 Aug 1870, Salt Lake City, Utah; (5) Mary Thompson, 8 Jan 1872, Salt Lake City, Utah. Charles died 26 Sep 1889, Mesa, Maricopa, Arizona. (This picture was left in the Morgan County Pioneer Memorial Building and was accessioned into the portrait collection as Item No. 2017-4.) In addition, a large banner was had in Weber City, Morgan County, Utah, circa 1864, later donated to the Pioneer Memorial Building as item No. 77. It is described as “SUNDAY SCHOOL BANNER - The first Sunday School in Weber City was organized in 1864 and this banner was the first one used. On 19 February 1872, the name Weber City was changed to Peterson in honor of the first settler, Charles Shreeve Peterson.” The banner was donated by Alice Boyden Whittier.
