Principles of Economics. This course has to do with a consideration of the underlying principles of Economics. Special attention is given to the production, exchange, distribution, and consumpton of wealth. Five quarter hours. Thatcher. ECONOMICS 2. Principles of Economics. The subject matter of Economics 1 is continued in this course, special emphasis being placed upon current economic problems. Five quarter hours. Thatcher. ECONOMICS 3. Corporation Finance. This course deals with the principles and methods employed in the functioning of business enterprises: Investment of capital funds; determination of incomes, dividends, and surpluses; insolvency receivership, reorganization. A study of the evolution of industrial society in the United States from the period of colonial development down to the present. Population, immigration, natural resources, public lands, transportation and communication, extractive and manufacturing industries, markets, commerce, financial institutions, labor, government finance and tariff are treated. A course covering the theory and history of money, origin and principles of banking, functions of the bank, the clearing house, and Federal Reserve system. Five quarter hours. Hurst. ECONOMICS 6. Public Finance. A study of the various kinds of public revenues and expenditures and the fiscal principles which govern them. Public credit, public debt, methods of borrowing, and the budget are also considered. Five quarter hours. Thatcher. ECONOMICS 7. Economic Geography. Influence of geographical factors on the development of industry and commerce; commercial product and their regions of production; distribution and development of leading industries; continents and countries; relations of man to his geographic environment. Five quarter hours. Thatcher. Business BUSINESS 1. Commercial Law- Contracts. A course in the nature and sources of law, the business man's relation to the law and the public, and the making contracts. Five quarter hours. Hurst. BUSINESS 5. Salesmanship. A practical treatment of salesmanship, with emphasis on the psychological aspect. Five quarter hours. Hurst. BUSINESS 6. Marketing. A detailed study of the principles and costs involved in the marketing of economic goods. Special consideration is given the marketing of agricultural products. Five quarter hours. Thatcher. Accounting ACCOUNTING 1. Elementary Accounting. A study of the fundamental principles underlying accounting procedure: opening and closing entries, trial balances, and statements. The balance sheet method of approach is used; accounts peculiar to single proprietorships, partnerships, and corporations are studied. Five quarter hours. Hurst. |
