Show Educational Psychology, Principles of Education, and an elective subject. The record of students for that year does not show any registration for the course. In January 1916, the Church Board of Education authorized the Weber Academy to add two years of college work to the curriculum. Accordingly, for the year 1916-17, a fifth year Normal Course was offered. Henry Aldous Dixon was named Director of the College Department. Eight students graduated from the Advanced Normal Course in the Spring of 1917. Owen F. Beal became principal of the Academy in 1917. H. A. Dixon continued as Director of Normal Work. During the year 1917-18, two years of College (Normal) Work were given. Graduates for that year showed two from the six year Normal, and four from the fifth year Normal. At the beginning of the year 1918-19, the name of the school was changed from Weber Academy to Weber Normal College; the title of principal was changed to President. Owen F. Beal served as president for that year, N. Henry Savage was director of the Normal Department. A vital change was made in 1918. Up to that time the school had operated on the semester basis. Sometimes, especially in early days, each semester was subdivided into two terms, but even then the semester was considered the unit. Beginning with the year 1918-19, the school went on the quarter basis, Fall, Winter, and Spring Quarter, of approximately twelve weeks in each. When a summer quarter was taught, it was usually subdivided into two six week terms. During the year 1919-20, Henry Aldous Dixon was President of the college. No Director of the Normal Department was named for that year. Educational subjects were taught by President Dixon, William Z. Terry, and Aaron W. Tracy. |
