Show for that course. The years 1889 to 1895 comprise a period of struggle for Weber, Details are discussed in another chapter. During this period some high school work was continued, but the emphasis was distinctively on the preparatory school. During the year 1889-90 there were one hundred and eighty-six students registered. Eighty-four are classified as Academic. For the year 1890-91, the Academy was not in session. The school reopened on Monday, November 23, 1891. The records for that year are very incomplete Louis F. Moench resigned at the close of the year on account of ill health. During the year 1892-93, Emil B. Isgreen was Principal. Three hundred and one names of students were recorded, but nothing further was written down. No ages were given, no classification as to grades, no mention of classes just names. During the year 1893-94, Dr. George F. Phillips was principal. Three hundred and six names of students were registered. One hundred and two were classified as academic. Twenty-eight were given grades in Latin and five grades in phonography. No other high school grades were given and no other high school classes mentioned. Eighty-two grades were recorded for arithmetic, grammar and the other common branches. For the year 1894-95, Louis F. Moench was again Principal. One hundred and forty students registered that year. Sixty-four were classified as academic. In all, seventy-seven students received final grades for subjects taken. These were mostly for the Sunday School |
