The clubs met last year for the first time in the Visalia Mineral King Bowl where the Visalia men snatched a last minute victory from the "Cats" by scoring a surprise touchdown. The game ended at the final gun with Visalia leading 19-13. The game last year was in doubt until the final shot too. Both teams were playing some fine ball with passes and trick plays pleasing the fans. Fresh from wins over Bakersfield and Monterey, the "Giants" hope to continue their winning streak at Weber's expense. But California teams hold no nemesis for the Weber men. They will be a little more sure of themselves after their surprise upset of the Modesto applecart last week with a 20-12 score. At writing it was not known if Weber's ace passer Roger Hall would see his full share of action tonight. He sustained a knee injury against Modesto and as late as Wednesday was not working out with his team-mates. His absence in part or full may crimp the Weber offense. The Giants have provided themselves with a new coach this season in the form of Roy Taylor. Taylor replaces Bud Nygren who mentored the Visalia outfit last year. Taylor lists the standout performers on his squad as Bill Higgins at guard who is one of the best linemen on the Sequoia squad, Dick Mayberry at end who is one of the fastest men on the squad, and Fran Weddle who looks sharp in the backfield.
