Experience is provided in floor work-., bench work, and machine operation. Students graduating enter the trade' on an advanced apprenticeship level. Two years of specialized pre-apprenticeship training are offered. Shop Practice .-. - - --3 hours daily Trade Technical 1 hour daily Electives 2 hours daily 6b ie^4mMcU GM>d uacatianal CIVILIAN PILOT TRAINING PROGRAM The Civilian Pilot Training Program provides a controlled primary ground school course in the subjects of meteorology, navigation, civil air regulations, and flight operations including the use of parachutes, instruments, and radio. Completion of this course qualifies the student for a Private Pilot's License. Ground School 72 clock hours Flight Training 35 to 50 clock hours NATIONAL DEFENSE TRAINING PROGRAM The National Defense Training Program provides courses designed to train men for occupations in industries essential for national defense. Included under this program are the following courses: Aircraft Engine Mechanics, Aircraft Sheet Metal, Aircraft Welding, Aircraft Radio and Electricity, Aircraft Instrument, Aircraft Propellers, Drafting, Electricity, Ordnance, Spray Gun Painting, Machine Shop, Welding and Cutting, Radio Mechanics and Operation, Topographical Drafting, Woodwork, Aircraft Sheet Metal Lay-out, and Aircraft Sheet Metal Hand Forming. NAVY V-l PROGRAM This program is planned by the Navy in order that the student may further his education and thus qualify to perform more efficiently his duties when called to active service. It is designed to equip a V-l student with a fundamental working knowledge of mathematics, a year of college physics, a working knowledge of English, and to provide a rigorous physical fitness program. If a student includes these subjects in his program, he may major in any course. The Navy Department has approved the Navy V-l curricula of Weber College. These curricula consist of V-l programs for those majoring in the following fields: Biological Sciences, Social Sciences, and Physical Sciences; Education, Physical Education and Music; Engineering, Forestry, arid Agriculture; English, Speech, and Modern Languages; Pre-medical and Pre- dental. 67 |
