Show 15 John and Caroline Ager John Ager was born in Cessie, Langford, England in 1837. He emigrated to Utah in 1860. He worked his way across the Plains by hunting wild game due to the fact that he was a good shot. Caroline Coolbear Ager was born in Molden, England, March 16, 1835. She came to Utah early in the year 1859. She received her testimony through a dream in which she saw a long train of covered wagons. She knew that meant for her to come to Utah. After arriving in Salt Lake City she worked for two years for a family naved Clive. When Mr. Ager reached Utah they were married in the Endowment House. They went to Farmington to Live. Five dollars worth of dishes consisted of two plates and two bowls. In 1863 they were called to settle in Morgan. When they arrived they had no house. They made their home by the side of a haystack for six weeks while they built a log cabin. Mr. Ager was an industrious man and he soon started to make brick, some of which is now in the Bert Allen residence. He also sawed lumber about where the tithing shed was built. Meetings and dances were held at his residence. Mr Ager was drowned in the Weber River on June 9, 1867, and his body lay in the water for six weeks, but was finally found at the end of the island, He left a wife and three smalll girls. Mrs. Ager died March 15, 1911. |
