Flygare Was a Community Leader Announcement of the death at age 82 of Mrs. Amelia H. Flygare assuredly has inspired recollections among the older pioneer residents of Ogden and its vicinity recollections of the old Z. C. M. I. store in Ogden where her husband, the late Chris, was the hardware department manager, of the Watson Flygare Hardware company, of Chris Flygare in the city council and later in the city commission, of all the history of Ogden through three wars. , For when Ogden was younger and smaller than it is today, Mr. and Mrs. Chris Flygare, between them, knew just about everybody in the city and county, and in Brigham City besides. Mrs. Flygare was one of those remarkable women who could rear a large family and yet find time to take leadership in religious, civic and political affairs. Relief Society, Mutual, Daughters of the Pioneers, Girl Scouts, Service Star Legion, Democratic party and other organizations profited from her leadership and industry. In Daughters of the Pioneers projects for collecting the personal histories of pioneers Mrs. Flygare took keep interest while probably not fully realizing that she, herself, was far more than a mere observer of four-fifths of Utahs history since 1847.
