Show ore at one property and at Desert Mound, stripped overburden about 1,800,000 cu. yds. in the first half of 1954. For Colorado Fuel and Iron Corporation, Utah performed both stripping and mining at two properties continuously since February 1943 and in 1953-54 constructed a $1,280,000 crushing, screening, stockpiling, reclaiming, loading and weighing facility. At this plant, which was operated and managed by Utah personnel, shipments exceeded 60,000 gross tons per month. All work at the Company's own Iron Springs Mine - stripping, mining, processing and selling-- is done by our own personnel. 20 - Indonesia Irrigation Development Survey For the Republic of Indonesia, Utah Construction Company and Brown and Blauvelt conducted extensive field surveys in and near Sumatra and made a comprehensive report concerning development of irrigable lands. The report, completed in 1954 for $59,000, contained recommendations as to type of farming to be employed, crops to be raised, principally rice, construction and financing methods, and preliminary design and layout of structures and canals. 21 - Investigation for Government of Haiti For the Government of Haiti, the Company completed an investigation program for a five-fold project that would ultimately involve a total expenditure estimated at about $22, 337, 000. Complete field engineering, layout and design were performed for these; projected developments. 1) Highways, including a highway between the cities of Port au Prince and Les Cayes, to be built at an estimated cost of $7,300,000. 2) A $3,795,000 international airport, complete with runways, navigational aids, administration building and service facilities. 3) Harbor developments to increase the depth of channels, build additional wharf facilities and install modern cargo handling, equipment, at an estimated cost of $1,642,000 642,000. |
