Show tive to their individual levels of interest. Representatives from the groups are included on the colleges central Alumni Board. Several regional Alumni Chapters have been established at various locations from coast to coast as numbers and interest have warranted such development. Periodic visits by the Alumni Director, officers or representatives of the college, as well as mailings of Comment, newsletters and other material, keep the various Chapters informed of the latest happenings and progress of their Alma Mater.Such expansive programs also include the Little Cats; children of Alumni members or former students, who participate in a variety of functions sponsored by the Alumni in the hopes that such awareness will form a permanent bond with the institution when the children reach college age.In keeping with the tradition of Alumni leadership established at the time of the colleges 75th anniversary, Alumni President Sharon Collins Young was named General Chairperson of the centennial celebration with the Alumni office coordinating the various functions and activities of an ambitious program involving the Alumni Board of Directors, WSC Foundation, the Associated Students, faculty, Staff and community. A year-long program of events beginning with the 1988 graduation will feature a variety of cultural, academic, recreational and social activities focusing on the 100th founding of the college and culminating with commencement in June 1989. One of the major events of the year will be the Centennial Gift Campaign, a major fund raising activity sponsored and assisted in large measure by the WSC Foundation; an outgrowth of the Develop-ment Fund established by the Alumni Association in 1966. As the College celebrates the centennial of its founding and looks forward to its second hundred years of service to students and community, so does the Alumni Association enter an exciting new period in its history. Having survived the growing pains of youth and the trials of adolescence, the Alumni are just beginning to emerge as a mature, viable source of support. In its second hundred years, the college will require the voice and active support of its former students to speak up for Weber State, to point with pride, to exult in her accomplishments, to support her activities, to encourage their sons and daughters to attend, to render political support, and yes, to even provide financial aid as an investment in the future of the College that will ensure diversity, richness and quality; an endowment which will provide a lasting margin of excellence at Weber State. It is the hope of the Alumni Association, that all students having once attended the institution, will forever consider themselves a continuing part of its past, an active participant in the present and a conscientious contributor to its future. Space does not permit a complete accounting of all of those faithful Alumni who have served the Association over the years nor of the many activities generated by their dedicated leadership. The names of past presidents of the Association since 1939 are printed as a representative tribute to all who have served in any capacity. 1939-1940 A. Russell Croft 1940-1941 A.
