In only seven more years you will be one hundred years old. Back in 1889 on January 7th, Weber State Academy was founded. The school was held in the Ogden Second Ward meeting house and was sponsored by the L.D.S. Church. At the founding of the school, it was set up ? as a high school. The year of 1892 brought the erection of the Moench Building which was named after the first principal of the school, Lewis F. Moench. The campus was to grow to include the area between 24th and 25th streets and between Adams and Jefferson. This was to become known as the "lower campus" in later years. David McKay was one of the founders of Weber State College. |
