Show Dennis Anderson Duffy Deaver Gary Rohmer Lyle Johnston Honors The players made their selections for most valuable players. Lyle Johnston, and Gary Rohmer were selected for the season long performances. Johnston was the top punter in the Big Sky with a 42.7 average. He was among the top 10 in the nation. Rohmer was a defensive stalwart all year. He compiled more points on the defensive charts than any other member of the defensive unit. Rohmer is a transfer from Dixie. The team also honored Duffy Deaver as the most improved player. Deaver was injured last year but a leading ground gainer for the Wildcats. Dennis Anderson was the only Weber player to make the Big Sky's first team. A junior, Anderson will come back next year as an end. New Coaches SARKIS ARSLANIAN Sarkis Arslanian was named new football mentor to replace Wally Nalder. Arslanian brings a great record from Dixie Junior College. He led the Rebels to the number nine ranking position among the nation's junior colleges. He uses The I-formation attack. He has been recruiting in the northwest and in California to supply the manpower for next fall's gridiron clashes. He didn't travel far for most of his recruits; ten members of his ICAC championship squad came with him. The new coach retained Bud Bel-nap to work in the back field, and Dick Williams on the ends. They were both members of Nalder's staff. Tom Ramage, assistant from Utah State, joined the Wildcat staff to coach the linemen. The former all-Skyline Conference tackle, Tom Ramage, joined the Weber State football staff. He has been an assistant coach at Utah State University for two years. Prior to his graduation from U.S.U. he was a mainstay in the Aggie line for three years. He was also a member of the wrestling team. He played professional football with the Pittsburgh Steelers before receiving his master's degree from U.S.U. in 1963. TOM RAMAGE |
