Show ida Basketball Squad The football season having come to a close, the next major sport, basketball, was supported with the usual Warrior spirit. A pre-season tour of Idaho ended in three victories and one defeat, thus giving us great expectations for a successful basketball year. Our flashy quintet met Bear River in the first league game. Both played vigorously and showed commendable fight, but the strong Warrior five led throughort the game, which ended in our first victory. The next game was played with Ogden on Friday, February 13. The bad luck was on the Warrior side for the game ended in our first defeat. This closed the first half of the season’s games. The second half showed the same sparkling ability of our team. They lost no games, and won over Ogden by a narrow margin in cne of the most spectacular games in which Weber has ever competed. This tied us with Ogden for first place in the division. The tie game, played at the Weber College Gym, dashed the Warrior hoves of entering the tournament at Salt Lake as division champions. Ogden won, after a hard fought battle. This placed us second in the league, and we won the right to play at the tournament by winning handily over the South Rich five. We should be proud of our team’s record in Salt Lake, for it indeed upheld our traditions and expectations while it was there. Weber won over Panguitch, Granite and Springville and lost only to Bingham. This placed us fourth. By placing fourth over the seventy odd teams in the state our boys brought added honor to the school and to themselves, for they placed one man on the second all state team, and four other team markable showing. members obtained honorable mention, which is indeed a re- |
