Dear 4, 1927. | CONFIDENTIAL Val: iver since my return home I have been intending to write you but after having been away so long, I found many loose ends to pickup and for a man with no business connections, I seem to have kept unusually busy. Right at the begimning, let me say that Mrs. Reierson would have written Mrs. Browning from Paris after my return from Liege to thank her for the very successful shopping for the lace, especially after I had told her what a very nasty day it was to be running from one place to another, but knowing you were about to leave for the Riviera, and as she was so busy in Paris, I suggested she wait and since our return she has been as busy with backward garden work as I have been with my affairs, so I doubt if she has written. She was tickled pink with the result of Mrs. Browning's efforts in her behalf. we were disappointed in not hearing from the Major as we had hoped and as he had promised would be the case. Wanted to see him and his charming wife and Mrs. Peary as they passed thro Paris but not hearing from him, assumed that perhaps he was delayed in making the deal for the car or for some other reason. On my return home, finding that Marriner had telephoned mé during my absence, I wrote him of my return and told him I wowld be very glad to see him at any time when he is East, but have not heard from him. Confidentially, I took the liberty of broaching to the head of the Western Company the matter I discussed with you,- that of arranging with you the possibility of distributi ng your arms. He was greatly interested. tf advised you in confidence that they have been after me to take charge of their selling organizati on. ‘They have always been weak in their selling end and still are.
