Show THE NORMAL SCHOOL OBJECT There is a great demand in Utah and adjoining states for efficient teachers. The local institutions have not been able to furnish a sufficient number of well-trained men and women to take charge of public school instruction. To meet this condition, the general Church Board of Education in January, 1916, decided to establish a two-year advanced Normal course in the Weber Academy. The object of this college work is two-fold; to prepare teachers for the elementary grades, and to assist in preparation of teachers for the organization of the Church. COURSES Two courses are offered in the Normal school. FirstA four-year Preparatory Normal course, offered in the high school. SecondA two-year Advanced Normal course, offered in the college. The Preparatory Normal course furnishes a good, strong curriculum of high school work, which gives a thorough preparation for the advanced course. The two years' work of the Advanced Normal course includes all the subjects required of teachers in the elementary schools of Utah and surrounding states. |
