The purpose of the Weber College Evening School is to provide an opportunity for students to acquire a general education and vocational competence, which will enable them to assume positions of leadership in the home, civic, business, cultural, and industrial life of the community. These aims require four types of courses to be offered: (1) Academic and pre-professional which fulfill requirements for College graduation in the arts, sciences, professions, business and vocations. (2) Terminal courses in the trades, industries, business and secretarial, to increase vocational efficiency. (3 Specialized courses for veterans on-the-job related training. (4) Homemaking and practical arts. For Whom Intended The Evening School is designed to meet the needs of college students unable to attend day classes; veterans who must enroll in courses related to on-the-job training; adults who desire to further their education; anyone over eighteen years of age; and in special cases, with the consent of the high school last attended, students under eighteen years of age. Students enrolled vary in age from sixteen to sixty-five years. Provisions for Veterans Weber College, through its Evening School, gives special attention to the needs of the veteran. The Veteran Coordinator's office and the Weber College Guidance Center are provided to assist the veteran to enroll under the G. I. Bill of Rights. Many courses have been added to the curriculum which fill the need for related training, refresher training, and preparatory training. The veteran will find these courses designed especially to help him with his vocational problems. Application forms and advice for enrollment may be secured at the office of the Veteran Coordinator, West Central Building, Room 101, from 8:00 a. m. to 4:30 p. m., daily except Saturday and Sunday. If a veteran did not graduate from high school and desires to matriculate in courses leading to a degree, he may meet the college entrance requirements by passing tests prepared by the United States Armed Forces Institute. |
