Show 20) Westminster Carpets Pty. Ltd. Tire construction of a 200 ft. by 160 ft. dye house for Westminster Carpets Pty. Ltd. Work included the installation of bale opening and hair proportioning machines, carbonizing lines, neutralizing stations , dyeing machines, drying lines, baling stations and bale store, with a designed capacity of 1,120 lb. per hour of goat hair. Utah's design and coordinated operation enabled transfer of equipment from the old dye house to be achieved without loss of production, and this building was then remodelled to accommodate additional machinery. This involved raising the roof and concrete columns by 10 ft. over two bays 165 ft. long. Utah's experience accomplished this "turnkey" operation without exposing the building interior to the elements, using beams of precast concrete to reduce time of in situ work. The site of this project is Dandenong, Australia, and the work amounted to $754, 521. The project was started in June of 1960 and completed in October of 1961. 21) Menindee Project Project included earthworks , interconnecting channel for the Water Conservation and Irrigation Commission of New South Wales. This schedule of rates project was started in May of 1960 and completed in November of 1960 and cost $127, 705. 22) Monsanto Survey Engineering, access road and site work for Monsanto Chemicals (Australia) Ltd. in the amount of $56, 344. The cost plus project was started in September of 1960 and completed in June of 1961. 23) Whyalla Site Work for New Steel Mill Construction included clearing and leveling site and carrying cut necessary drainage and civil works in the area, moving 402, 000 cubic yards of dirt and rock, compacting and finishing to grade an area of 794, 000 sq. yd. including placing and compacting approximately 9,100 cu. yd. of quarry waste surfacing to a tolerance over the whole area of plus or minus 1/4". Three and one-half miles of 30 ft. soil-cement stabilized roads were also constructed. This "turnkey" operation was completed for Broken Hill Proprietary Company Ltd. on schedule in 13 weeks. The project is located in Whyalla, South Australia, and cost $588, 560. The schedule of rates contract is dated January 1961 and work was completed in June of 1961. 24) Tantangara Dam Located on the Nurrumbidgee River, near the town of Kiandra, in the State of New South Wales, Australia, It is a concrete gravity dam and has a height of 150 ft. and a length of 710 ft.
