29) Cumbaya Project The construction of a tunnel 5. 4 miles with an inside diameter of 11-1/2 feet. The tunnel work was only a portion of the overall project which included intake structure ,. penstocks and surge tank, power plant and appurtenant works. The work was located near Quito, Ecuador, and the owner was Impresa Electrica "Quito" S.A. The cost of the overall project was $9, 941, 000. Work started in 1958 and was completed in 1961. Mr. William Pallin was the Project Manager.
