Show BRIGHAM GIRL WINS CONTEST Takes Gold Watch In Box Elder Oratorical Competition BRIGHAM CITY, Mary 14 ’37 Margaret Tingey of Box Elder High school won first place in the Lewis oratorical contest held here late Tuesday afternoon. Her subject was, "Red Blood for Water." Miss Tingey was awarded a gold watch. Two Japanese boys from Davis County High school captured first place honors as a team. Henry Kuwabara with "Satan's Utopia," and Sam Oda with "What a High School Education Means to a Jap-anese Boy," received silver pins and carried a silver cup back to Davis High. On the committee in charge of the affair were Miss Nial Nelson, chairman, Harold Nelson and Cleon Lemmons. The judges were Professor King Hendricks, Ruth Bell and Joseph Simmons of the Utah State Agricultural college faculty. |
