PURNISS, '17 LITERARY The Star of Bethlehem Come with me, gentle reader, to a night Two thousand years ago, upon the plains Of old Judea, where the shepherds watched When lo, the air was filled with sacred strains. And round about them shone a wondrous glory While far above they heard the angels sing, And unto them was told the sacred story That Christ was born, their Savior and their King. Then gazing off into the east afar They cried in unison: "The Star! The Star!" 'Twas long ago, but still those strains are swelling. "Hosanna! Glory unto God on High!" The angels still that sacred tale are telling And still that wondrous star shines in the sky. We, too, can find it. If we seek for love, And truth, our search will not be all in vain, But guided by our Savior from above E'en as those lowly shepherds, we will gain The peace and joy which came that night to them. Go forth and seek the Star of Bethlehem. S. A. PURRINGTON, '11. |
