Show ORGANIZATIONS The Public Service Bureau The work started by the Public Service Bureau, at the beginning of the year, is still growing. Nearly every ward in and around Ogden has given the association an opportunity of giving the students of Weber the thing so necessary for success, which is the actual execution of their branch of work. The Program committee is not alone, however, in its good work. The Athletic committee has been busy training the boys of the graded schools to play basketball and to come to Weber. The Employment Agency has succeeded in securing employment for several boys and girls of the school. At the same time the Efficiency committee has been busy reporting and suggesting many things which will benefit the school in some way. The rapidity of the growth of the work has already made it necessary to add to the departments originally named, in order to carry on the work properly. Every student who has taken part on any of the Public Service Bureau programs has not only been benefiting himself but he has been of value to the ward in which he took part, to the audience who came to hear him, and best of all, to the school in which we all take such great pride. The students who have not yet taken active part in the work will soon be called upon to do so, because the association is still in its Infancy. So when you are asked to assist remember that the Public Service Bureau is your association and that it is your best means to actually boost Weber. ACORN 20 The Orchestra and Band The Orchestra and Band of Weber are again organized. There are about thirty students in these organizations and all play their parts well. The band is progressing exceptionally rapidly, and will soon be able to appear at the games. At their first appearance, on the Thanksgiving program, they played very well, and the selections were warmly received by the students. The orchestra has not yet appeared before the Student Body, but it will soon be able to play several pieces. The German Club The members of the German club enjoyed themselves at a party given on the 15th of November. All participated in German games and folk dances. A delightful German lunch was served. In the future we intend to have many more good times. The German club wishes everybody a Merry Christmas and a Successful and Happy New Year. The French Club Although the French language is in its infancy in Weber the students who take French are always up and doing. There was a meeting held and the following officers were elected: President Ellen Scowcroft. Vice President Clark Barlow. Secretary and Treasurer Franklin Richards. Program Committee Elda Ririe, Ben Young, Ruth Pardoe, Josephine Volker. We are going to have many good and rousing times among ourselves. We have joined a club of French and Belgium missionaries and Saints. The purpose of this club is to bring the Saints and missionaries together so they will not get "rusty" in their French. |
