Show Real Estate Law This course includes: Nature of real property, doctrine of estates, fee simple absolute, life estates, tenancies, contingencies, equities, trusts, dower, homestead rights, easements, restrictions, fixtures, improvements, joint tenancy, deeds, assignments, contract, dedication, tax title, tax sales, priorities, and equitable liens. Business 12. Retail Selling This is an intensive training course for those who wish to prepare for store selling. It includes a study of the following: Meeting the customer, steps in the sale, the "just looking" customer, store system, suggesting extra merchandise, buying motives, merchandise information, store organization, meeting customers' objections, adjustment techniques, reports, retail services and closing the sale. Salesmanship and Sales Psychology Based upon the methods used by successful salesmen, this course explains not only what the salesman should do, but how and why he should do it. The topics discussed include: Analyzing the salesman's duties; personal qualification for selling; locating prospects; sizing up the prospect and learning his needs; securing a sales interview; opening the interview; presenting the product or service; conducting sales demonstrations; graphic sales presentations; using the company's advertising and sales aids in a sales presentation; anticipating and answering objections; securing action; planned sales presentations; claims; cultivating customers. Business 93. Secretarial Bookkeeping This course is designed to give students a sound training in modern bookkeeping practice. The experience gained through a study of the course will enable them to meet with confidence the bookkeeping problems of the modern sized business establishment. The student gets a complete overview of the flow of business transactions through the journal and ledger to the final summary in the financial reports. Business 51. Beginning Shorthand First course in the principles of Gregg shorthand. Instruction by individual and class methods. Emphasis is placed on correct writing technique and phrasing. Simple dictation and transcription are included. Business 53. Intermediate Shorthand A review of fundamental theory with advanced vocabulary development. Intended for those who have been trained elsewhere and who wish to review or continue their study. A skill of 100 words is developed. Business 54. Advanced Shorthand A further development of skill in dictation and transcription of letters, business articles, and court testimony. Short cuts and phrase writing. Rapid and accurate transcription. A skill of 120 words a minute is developed. 16 StatisticsElementary This course covers the following topics: collection and classification of data; calculation of mean, median, mode, standard deviation, range, correlation, regression, tabulation, graphs, charts tables and the application of each to business or education. This course meets the requirements for credit in Business 17 or Psychology 17. Business 61. Elementary Typing Object is to attain sufficient mastery of the typewriter and simple forms to enable the student to use the skill for personal needs and on a limited scale. in business. Content includes initiating keyboard control, making typing habits permanent, improvement practice, introduction of simple forms; care of the typewriter. Business 62-65. Intermediate and Advanced Typing Prerequisite, ability to type 30 words per minute. Review of keyboard, stressing accuracy and technique. Study of different types of business letters, simple tabulation, manuscript and legal forms. Drills to increase speed and accuracy. Homemaking and Practical Arts The main purpose of the homemaking instruction offered to adults at Weber College Evening School is to provide instruction to those who desire to extend their knowledge of homemaking or improve their techniques, who expect to start homes of their own in the near future or wish to prepare themselves to establish a business of their own. In the various subjects offered, the school will aim to help adults solve problems which arise from social and economic changes affecting home and family life and develop new interests, skills, appreciations, judgments, and ideals related to the various aspects of homemaking. Art 35. Arts and Crafts The fundamentals of several arts and crafts will be presented. Includes any art or craft that is suitable to the needs of the students. There will be problems in construction and decoration involving the fundamental principles of design as related to all media and materials. The aim is to introduce the students to a wide variety of usable projects that can be conveniently made for pleasure or for profit. This course will include ceramics and leathercraft. Clothing Practical instruction in the construction of such garments as coats, suits, and dresses; remodeling and proper pattern selection will be stressed. Tailoring, finishing and fitting will be studied. This is an individualized course, in which, as far as possible, the student takes up the particular skills which he wishes to master. 17 |
