Show some graining of woodwork, glazing woodworking, and special problems, a study of the manufacturing processes and practical work in the application of wall coverings, which embraces the following: Preparing sizes, pasting and folding paper, trimming, hanging lining paper, hanging ceiling paper, butting paper, and decorative paperhanging. Plumbing Supplemental technical and related training classes will be offered to those now employed in plumbing. Radio Construction and Repair Designed to qualify students for employment in the radio industry. Course deals with construction, repair and adjustment of all types of vacuum tube equipment and associated apparatus, including home and automobile receivers, public address ssytems, photo-electric devices and inter-office communication systems, related work in radio theory, science, mathematics. Refrigeration 1. Elementary This course includes the underlying principles of refrigeration, the various types of refrigerants, temperatures and pressures, installation and operation of refrigeration plants and refrigeration controls, valves, fittings, and connections. The applications of refrigeration taught include: Commercial installationgrocery stores, butcher shops, soda fountains, drug stores, restaurants, and delivery truck refrigeration; large refrigeration plants; refrigerating machinery for air conditioning. Refrigeration 2. Advanced This course includes a study of the fundamental laws bearing on refrigeration, units of refrigeration, heat transmission, refrigeration machines, thermodynamics of compression cycles, properties of refrigerants, construction details of compression, high-pressure side apparatus, condensing surfaces using air, water, and evaporation, cooling surfaces for liquids and high temperatures (as, in air conditioning), and low temperature air cooling, brine circulating systems, insulation, applications for refrigeration, commercial systemsice making plants, cold storage, packing houses, dairies, breweries, miscelaneous, and operating and testing refrigeration plants. A thorough knowledge of refrigeration will prove to be valuable to the students in air conditioning. Showcard Writing and Lettering (Pen, Brush, Air Brush) This course is designed primarily to meet the needs of those interested in card writing as an aid to their present work, or as an additional means of livelihood. Those interested in show-card writing as a trade are also welcome. The intensity of study varies with the needs of the individual. This course covers the following subjects: Supplies and materials, pen lettering, 24 brush lettering:, letter designing, composition and layout devices, color and construction features. Ample illustrative material and individual attention is the basis of instruction. Welding, Arc and Acetylene An indispensable skill for practically all metal trades, including plumbing, steamfitting, structural iron work, boilermaking, machinist work, sheet metal, etc. Instruction in metals, training in welding methods and equipment, lap welds, butt welds, tee welds, use of burning torch, pipe welds, testing welded joints. Practice in use of bare and shielded arc electrodes in all positions with many types of jointson plates, pipes, shapes and castings. Supervisory Personnel Development This course is designed for executives, foremen, supervisors, leadmen, and others who have direction or supervision of personnel in offices, commercial or public establishments or in industrial plants and factories. A study is made of the principles, problems, and techniques involved in (1) setting up an organization using the basic principles of management; (2) training workers on the job; (3) instructing workers on the job; (4) maintaining wholesome worker relationships. Students will work on actual problems arising out of their own experiences and situations in applying principles and development techniques. Other classes may be added in general related subjects such as:' Functional English, General Science, Mathematics, Vocational Social Studies. Other courses will be scheduled as the need arises.
