August Mr. Val A, Liege, Dear Browning, Belgium, Val: Tt recently mun purchased from number 66911, that regard ing nis eun came to my attention that we have a the Hamm Sales Company, bearing serial was bootlegeeds. Mr. Russell wrote you under date of July SOth. The reason that I an writings you is that this gun also hears “Browning Arms Company, Ogden, Utah" on the barrel. in as mich as this merking 3is supposed to be stamped on euns which are supplied to us only, I wes at first at a loss to understand how a pun bearing such stamping could be bootlesced by others, if the F.N, does not make it a practice of placing this stempine on cuns sold to others than ourselves, After thinking about it, however, I can see one possibility of guns with this stemping being supplied to others. For instance; our inspectors are doubtless rejecting a certain number of cuns bearing this stamping and, in place os Pe. re~-conditicning the suns for our ae it is doubtless sel ling these guns to its own trade. on our This euns, acein With accentuates such a trade the mark Importance stamped on of a trade guns, mark it would make no difference whether we rejecteé then and F.N, sold them to others beceuse no one excepting ourselves could import to this country. Wish you would therefore let us have a reply to my letter of August Sth as soon as possible in order that we may ego ehead with the trade mark. In order that time will commence running, slips of paper bearing the proposed trede mark, such as are enclosed, are being wrapped around the barrel of each gun being shipped from Ogden, You know that we heve to use a trade mark two years before we cen register do, we will discontinue be agreed upon, trade True to merked had the it. If you practice our forecast, the been removed. from think until I.N, nih the above Yours sincerely, this another will design not can plate which we mentioned fUNs |
