Show Skiing The start of a long trip downward. Dan Hinckley enjoys the view from top of Snow Basin. The Weber State Ski team won the Big Sky Alpine event held in Bozeman, Montana. The young skiiers, coached by Earl Mller, had to scramble for their honors on the difficult course. In the downhill the number one and two skiers fell and Brent Ward and Gregg Thon carried the load. Ward finished fourth. Dan Hinckley and Mike Lowe weren't the only ones to fall. Eight of the fifteen college racers fell on the treacherous slope. Dave Moulding twisted his knee on a practice run the day before and was eliminated from competition. There were two divisions in the meet, Alpine which consists of downhill and slalom events, and the Nordic, crosscountry and jumping. Idaho State won the latter. Weber plans to enter both divisions next year. Skiing, a race against time. Swimming Youth was this year's biggest handicap for the Weber State swimming team. Despite the lack of experience they compiled a 3-7-1 record and a third place finish in the Big Sky Conference meet. Coach Overstreet will have the same squad back next year. He hopes to recruit four or five prep stars or transfers to give more depth to the team. John Shackleford and Greg Bateman were the most consistent point getters. Ralph Green was the only Wildcat to place first in the BSAC meet. Other members of the team were Farrel Bryan, John Deschamps, Curt Agrin, Howard Micklelash, Don Spendlove, Ted Bell, and Larry Dea.
