Show POU TRUMPETER <reant ~ ee oa oe re “ ra ee art’ ~“~ Trine Pa aS - has <n Sa ee eee er Terr THE WARRIOR’S i =) Pe f on ra “ ie. | » The Editorial Staff worked closely together—Trumpeter staff: Royce Stromberg, artist; Phil Smith, sports editor; Marie August, feature editor, Sharon Berrett, editor-in-chief; Lewis Miller, sports editor. THE EDITORIAL STAFF Planning each issue of the paper was a job to keep anyone busy but Sharon Berrett handled it with the ease of a professional. Each person had a specific job to be responsible for. Phil Smith and Lewis Miller were seen at nearly all athletic events gathering material for their page. Marie August edited the features and Royce Stromberg added a colorful touch with cartoons and drawings. A large staff of reporters handled the assignments and Mrs. Mabel Blayney acted as faculty advisor for the group. The Trumpeter was a popular student treat. Everyone liked to see his own name in print. Especially outstanding were the publicity and trick photography shots that were used in many of the issues. The Trumpeter sutfered a loss when their budget was cut but the staff rallied to the situation and put out some exceptional issues anyhow. THE BUSINESS STAFF As strange as it may seem, the paper had to be financed so the business staff went to work selling ads. Every issue had to meet a quota of ads and the students were always hard at work soliciting ads from the local merchants. The Business Manager had many headaches over balancing the budget and collecting bills but the results were well worth the time and effort. Nancy Austin as Business Manager had the job of keeping the books, selling ads, sending bills, and working with staff members. Phyllis Russell and Jay Neilsen, staff members, put in time of their own to call on prospective advertisers and sell space to businesses. Hard work and time were put into selling but it paid dividends. Selling ads kept the business Neilsen, Phyllis Russell, Nancy 160 staff busy—Trumpeter Business Austin, Business Manager.
