Show Three prominent Utahns received Honorary Doctorates of Humanities degrees from Weber State during the 1982 Commencement exercises. The three were John A. Lindquist, Terrel H. Bell and Donnell B. Stewart. Mr. Lindquist is chairman of Lindquist and Sons and Washington Heights Corporation. He is a former president of the WSC Wildcat Club and served on the Alumni Board of Directors as well as an active member of the WSC School of Business and Economics Advisory Board. T. H. Bell is currently serving as Secretary of Education in the Reagan Administration. He has served as Utah Commissioner of Higher Education from 1976 to 1981 and also as superintendent of Weber County Schools. I Mr. Stewart graduated from Weber State in 1926. He was active in athletics and served as student body president. He has served on the WSC Associated Alumni Board and has been an active participant in many campus fund drives. He played a key role in the planning and development of the Dee Events Center and is an ardent supporter of Wildcat athletics. TERREL H. BELL JOHN A. LINDQUIST DONNELL B. STEWART DR. JEAN B. WHITE DR. RICHARD A. ALSTON DR. OREN E. MOFFET DR. W. LEE DICKSON Four Weber State College professors were recognized as "Presidential Distinguished Professors." They were Dr. Jean B. White, professor of political science. Dr. Richard M. Alston, professor of economics; Dr. Oren E. Moffett, professor of foreign languages; and Dr. W. Lee Dickson, professor of electronic engineering at Weber State for at least three years, are knowledgeable and up to date in their field and excell in effective. quality teaching. They are judged on their knowledge as well as their ability to effectively communicate to students and to motivate them towards continued learning, outside of the classroom. Recipients of this prestigious award receive a $2,000 cam award and a $1000 expense allowance to be used for professional development as approved by the academic vice president. |
