Show THE SCHOOL OF MUSIC AND ART MUSIC DEPARTMENT The Department of Music gives theoretical and practical instruction in musical subjects indispensable to the educated musician. The courses extend over four years, and include the following: Sight singing (solfeggio), band instruments, history of music, voice culture, chorus work, harmony, violin, cello, piano. DRAMATIC ART DEPARTMENT The Department of Dramatic Art gives individual instruction in speaking voice building, platform etiquette for all voice work and the course includes play and opera coaching, interpretation of dramatic literature and impersonation of plays. FACULTY Joseph Ballantyne For a number of years has been one of Ogden's leading musicians and teachers. In the study of vocal culture he has had as teachers some of the world's greatest masters, among them Oscar Saenger, New York; Herman Klein, London; Herbert W. Greene, New York; Wm. Shakespeare, London, and Charles Bowes, Paris. Mr. Ballantyne studied harmony counterpoint composition and orchestration in the National Conservatory of Music, New York, under the eminent Master Max Spicker. He is director of the famous Ogden Tabernacle choir. He also finished a course in sight singing and methods of teaching at the National Conservatory of Music. He has had fourteen years' experience in teaching the above subjects. |
