But its success must has won the many great honors that athletic activities which be attributed to the development of ability and intelligence by the technique and foresight of the coaches. Weber has turned out one of the finest records known in high school athletics. Coach Dick Thorne is responsible for this honor and fame that the school has gained. As members of Weber County, we are not the only ones to hold him in great esteem, but the whole state recognizes his power and ability in coaching. Our school has been represented the last two years at the state high school basketball tournament, rating fourth place both years. Next year, however, we are going to face a great loss, because our Coach has accepted a position at the B. Y. U. This will be felt most keenly by the boys who have enjoyed the friendship and guidance of Mr. Thorne. We have also had, during the year, the splendid assistance of another coach, Lionel Thatcher, who has shown great interest in the training and development of the teams, especially of the Sophomore basketball team of which he had the responsibility. The team played in the Ogden Junior High School League and tied for city championship.
