Kerr 132 University Street Salt Lake City, Utah Dear Professor Kerr; In response to your letter of January 6, 1951, I am pleased to contribute the following paragraph in appreciation of Professor Louis F. Moench, first principal of the Weber Stake Academy: I was a student at the Weber Stake Academy during the last year that it was held in the Second Ward meeting house, and the first year that it was held in the new building erected on Jefferson Avenue between 24th and 25th Streets, Ogden, Utah. Near the conclusion of my first mission in Scotland, even before I was released, I received an invitation from Principal Moench to become a member of the Weber Stake Academy faculty. In accepting this invitation I became closely associated with him until his retirement as Principal of that institution. The skill of the able teacher is shown not in the imparting of instruction, but in the awakening in the mind of the student a desire for learning and in directing him how to obtain it.
