A course dealing with a layman's approach to the understanding and appreciation of art in painting, sculpture, architecture, ceramics, printing and book binding, textiles, etc. Three quarter hours. Spring. (Not given 1941-1942.) Collett 6. Art for Teachers. A course dealing with simple techniques, tools, and materials; and the correlation of art with other subjects. Three quarter hours. Spring. Collett Bacteriology Sheldon Phipps Hayes It is recommended that a student pursuing a major in bacteriology complete Bacteriology 1 and la, Physiology 1, Botany 1, and Chemistry 1, 2, 11 or 4, 5, 6, Mathematics 3, and Physics 1 and 2. 1. General Bacteriology. A course devoted to fundamental facts of bacteriology and applications of industrial, economic, and sanitary importance. Three lectures a week. Three quarter hours. Autumn, Winter, Spring. Hayes la. Laboratory Course in General Bacteriology. A course requiring two laboratory periods a week. Credit will not be allowed unless taken with Course 1. Two quarter hours. Autumn, Winter, Spring. Hayes 2. Microbiology. A study of the fundamental characteristics and habits of microorganisms, both pathogenic and nonpathogenic. The public health point of view is stressed and an understanding of the necessity for surgical asepsis established. Three lecture periods and two lab oratory periods a week. Five quarter hours.
