Orientation of Health and Physical Education. A course comprising a survey of the fields of physical education and hygiene and their application to personal and community hygiene. Required of all freshmen. Two quarter hours. Autumn, Winter, Spring. Staff 41. Orientation of Health and Physical Education. Same as Physical Education 40 except that it is adapted for engineers and trade students. One quarter hour. Autumn, Winter, Spring. (See Hygiene 1.) Staff 42. First Aid. A course devoted to instruction and practice in the immediate, temporary treatment given in case of accident or sudden illness. Red Cross Certificates are awarded to all candidates with a satisfactory grade. Two quarter hours. Autumn, Winter, Spring. Losee Physics Charles Anson Osmond It is recommended that a student pursuing a major in physics complete Physics 4, 5, 6, and Mathematics 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, and 9. 1. General Physics. A course designed to acquaint the non-science major with elementary phases of general physics. Description and demonstration methods are emphasized rather than mathematics. Mechanics, molecular physics, and heat are treated. Four lectures and one laboratory period a week. Five quarter hours. Winter. (May not be given 1941-1942.) Osmond 2. General Physics. A course completing the general field introduced by Physics 1. Electricity, radio, light, and sound are included. No prerequisites. Five quarter hours. Four lectures and one laboratory period a week. Spring. Osmond 3. Meteorology. A scientific analysis of the physics of the atmosphere. This course is given with the aim of correlating these physical principles with weather phenomena.
