Four recitations and one laboratory period a week. Five credit hours. Winter Quarter. Physics 8. General Physics. Meteorology. This course is a study of atmospheric phenomena. It treats with the conditions of the atmosphere and the changes brought about therein by changes in temperature, pressure, humidity, winds, and clouds. The work and function of the Weather Bureau is likewise studied. Five recitations per week. Five credit hours. Spring Quarter. Physics 4. Advanced Physics. Mechanics. This is a more advanced course than Physics 1, 2 and 3. It is specially adapted to students pursuing engineering and medical courses. Lind, B.Sc, Ph.D. Professor of Chemistry, Geology and Mineralogy Candidates for the A.A. degree from Chemistry, Geology or Mineralogy must complete 90 hours of approved work. This must include English 1 and 2, Physical Education and 10 hours in each of the following groups: Exact Science, Social Science, Language and Biological Science. Candidates for the B.S. degree from Chemistry, Geology or Mineralogy must complete 183 hours of approved work. This must include English 1 and 2, Physical Education and 13 hours in each of the following groups: Mathematics and Physical Science, Social Science, Biological Science, Language. CHEMISTRY The Laboratory is thoroughly equipped for experimental work in General Chemistry, and in qualitative and quantitative analysis. Each desk is provided with drawers and shelves, and a complete set of apparatus and reagent bottles for each individual student. Each desk is also provided with gas and water connections. New sinks and shelves have recently been installed and additional apparatus has been added. The department is provided with two chemical balances with weights of precision, a stock of glass and porcelain ware, and a supply of chemicals sufficiently complete for all the work offered in Chemistry. |
