A continuation of Chemistry 8. One lecture and two laboratory periods a week. Three quarter hours. Spring. Gray 10. Survey of Chemistry. A course designed for nurses. A survey of the principles of inorganic, organic, and physiological chemistry, and their applications to hospital work and general care of the sick. Previous training in high school chemistry recommended, but not required. Two lectures, one recitation, and two laboratory periods a week. Five quarter hours. Autumn, Spring. Gray 11. General Chemistry. A continuation of Chemistry 2, including a beginning course in elementary Qualitative Analysis. Open only to students who have earned a B average in Chemistry 1 and 2. Designed to place students who have completed 1, 2, and 11 on a par with those who have completed 4, 5, and 6. Three recitations, and two laboratory periods a week. Five quarter hours. Spring. Mortensen The Aeronautics Ground Instruction Course consists of the following standard content prescribed by the Civil Aeronautics Administration. A student is required to pass successfully federal examinations in these ground school subjects as well as to pass the flight tests in order to secure a private pilot's license. Civilian Pilot Training 1. Civil Air Regulations. One quarter hour. 2. Meteorology. Two quarter hours. 3. Navigation. Two quarter hours. Osmond, Murphy 4. General Service and Operation of Aircraft. Mortensen *The flight part of this program is given by the Utah Pacific Airways in cooperation with Weber College. Special fees for flight training are payable to the Utah Airways, Inc. Ogden City has made the Robert H. Hinckley Airport available for the training program. Department of Geology and Geography W. R. Buss Geography 1. Environmental Geography. Five quarter hours. Winter. Buss 2. Geography of Utah. Recommended for education students. One all-day field trip is required. Three quarter hours. Spring. Buss Geology It is recommended that a student pursuing a major in geology complete Geology 1 or Geology 11 and Geology 3, 5, and 7; and Chemistry 1 and 2, or 4 and 5. I. General Geology. Required field trips to local areas provide a valuable supplement to class discussion. Prerequisites: Geology 1 or Geology 11. Five quarter hours. Winter. Buss 5. Rocks and Rock Minerals. Field trips into local areas are required. Three lectures and one laboratory period each week. Four quarter hours. Autumn. Buss 7. Mineralogy of Ore Minerals. Prerequisites: Geology 1 or Geology 11, and Chemistry 1 and 2, or permission of the instructor. One lecture and two laboratory periods a week. Three quarter hours. Winter. Buss 8. Mineralogy of Rock Minerals. A continuation of Geology 7. One lecture and two laboratory periods a week. Three quarter hours. Spring. Buss II. Physical Geology. Designed for engineering and forestry students. Credit is not given for both Geology 1 and Geology 11.
