Department of Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Staff Air Conditioning and Refrigeration TYPE A The course in Air Conditioning and Refrigeration is designed to prepare the learner for entrance into this field on the helper level. 51. Shop Practice. A course devoted to shop work consisting of sheet metal duct work and other units, such as, cooling, evaporative condensers, shell and tube heat exchangers, expansion valves, controls, pumps, motors, blowers, fabrication and erection problems. Students do actual work in the shop on all types of refrigeration and air conditioning equipment. Eight hours of terminal credit. Autumn, Winter, Spring. Staff 52. Trade Technical. A course covering the technical phases of shop practice and fundamental information necessary to do the work of the trade. Five hours terminal credit. Autumn, Winter, Spring. Staff 53. Trade Related. A course including related information needed by the learner to become a competent workman. This work includes: Sheet- metal Lay-out, Labor Problems, Physical Education, Vocational Orientation, and Vocational Science. Staff Department of Aircraft and Engine Mechanics Staff Aircraft Mechanics TYPE A The course in aircraft mechanics is designed to qualify the learner for the aircraft mechanics license examination. The information in this course follows official C.A.A. requirements for an approved school. 51. Shop Practice. A practical course giving instruction in the inspection, disassembly, re-work, re-assembly, and testing of the metal, wood, and fabric aircraft. Eight hours terminal credit. Autumn, Winter, Spring. A course devoted to training which covers the following units: safety and equipment, car appraising, car preparation, body metal, light corrections, axles, springs, shock absorbers, frame and bumper straightening, radiators, hoods and lights, body frame, body panels, tops, body mechanism, glass, upholstery and trimming, body accessories, wiring, and paint reconditioning.
