Five quarter hours. Winter. Staff 73. Application of Merchandise Information. A course to assist each student in gathering information for the writing of a merchandise manual. Group work one day a week. One quarter hour. Autumn. Staff 74. Retail Merchandising. A study of the problems involved in buying and selling as merchandising procedures. It will include a study of the psychology of selling, personality building and principles of salesmanship. Five quarter hours. Spring. Staff 75. Cooperative Merchandise Laboratory. Work experiences on the job in local retail, wholesale, and service establishments. Fifteen clock hours a week required. Minimum wages paid while on the job. Five quarter hours. Autumn, Winter, Spring. Staff 76. Labor Relations and Personnel Management. A study of the current legislation affecting the employee and employer. One quarter hour. Winter. Staff 77. Marketing and Distribution. A study of the channels of distribution and marketing procedures in connection with consumer goods. Three quarter hours. Spring. Staff 78. Consumer Problems. A symposium course designed to give the student an understanding of the scope and importance of the consumer movement. Five quarter hours. Spring. Staff 79. Customer, Personnel and Public Relations. A study of Human Relations in business, emphasizing the human element as a major factor in successful business management. Vietti, C. G. Wilson Executive Secretarial Training The following curriculum is designed for the student who desires to qualify for a secretarial position after graduation from Weber College. It is recommended for a secretarial student who does not plan to transfer to a senior institution. 47 CURRICULUM Freshman Year A. General Secretarial Training (Leading to a Bachelor of Science Degree) The following curriculum is designed for the student who plans to transfer to a senior institution after completing his lower division requirements for a major in Secretarial Training at Weber College.
