Show Marriott-Slaterville History March 2008 change the ordinance to read that restaurants can serve two (2) beers, not to exceed 16 ounces each, in original containers with a meal. The ordinance was approved 3-2. Preliminary and final subdivision approval for Intermountain Farmers Association at 1069 West 1200 South was given by the council. It consists of seven retail business pads, and has one access to 12th Street. IFA will open there the middle of May. Budget planning and capital projects were discussed by the council. Mr. Morris mentioned grant monies that have been approved and the ones pending. Scott Van Leeuwen was thanked for the time he spent meeting with UDOT on the 12th Street reconstruction, which resulted in getting $100,000 for a storm water line on 1200 West. The replacement water line on 400 North is being completed by Bona Vista. Mayor Keith Butler feels sale tax will be down 15% this year because of the slow economy, but that this will be more than off-set by new businesses. Dumpsters at both the Marriott and the Slaterville Park will be available on April 18, 19, and 20, for spring clean-up items. Ryan Domgard has volunteered to clean up the leaves at the Marriott Park. Councilman Delbert Hodson said the tables at the Marriott Park need to be put back under the bowery. He also asked about widening 1200 West to four lanes, as mentioned by WFRC. Mr. Morris advised that 1200 West will not be four lanes, but two lanes with a center turn median. Mr. Hodson was also concerned that the power poles being replaced are too close to 1200 West, and further that the city should be sure that Ogden City keeps their commitment to have all the road widening taken from the former DDO proper on the east side of the road. Councilman Kim Slater is interested in seeking CDBG grant funds to get the sewer on 200 South, as he feels the area meets the 70% moderate income requirement for this grant. Mr. Slater reported that no West Nile Virus has been reported in Weber County as yet. He recommended noting in the newsletter that mosquitos in standing water in residents' yards is a problem which owners should address. The March issue of The Pioneer Post announced that the Weber Conservation District again will sponsor its annual "Bag of Woad" program in May this year. Last year, kids collected approximately 500 bags of the weed for disposal. Dyer's Woad is a noxious weed that displaces native grasses and threatens wildlife, livestock, and our food and water supply. The collection will run every Thursday in May. Austin Allred, Zac Blair, Marybeth Capell, Aubrey Dimick and Jonathon Spencer were among the students on the honor roils for the first semester, at Fremont High School. 22, between 3:00 and 6:00 p.m., and return the full bags the next Thursday. Participants must be between ages 6-18, and wilt receive $10.00 for each full bag returned. UDOT is reconstructing 12th Street from I-15 to Wall avenue. Significant construction will be starting soon with curb, gutter, sidewalk and storm drainage being part of the project. A storm drain along 1200 West will also be installed. And we thought we might soon be through with the orange cones at the I-15/1200 South exchange. Several city roads and some of the new subdivision roads will be chip sealed this year. As it may result in rock chips in yards and shoulders, as well as cracked windshields, residents were reminded to drive carefully in these areas. |
