This information has left behind rich histories, stories and important information regarding the history of the Marriott-Slaterville area. |

Show and Marriott were to be one united city from now on. The city council meeting reconvened and the city council commenced ratifying all the administrative organization, instituting a development moratorium, finalizing contracts, agreements, and ordinances previously entered. The mayor approved each item after the city council took action. The council decided that it would meet on the first and third Thursday of each month. Duncan and I prepared ordinances that the council considered at each meeting. The work load seemed overwhelming at times for us, and we spend may late night hours getting the final details in order before the meetings. Mayor Butler spent much of his free time away from his home and patient wife, doing city business, making appointments, sorting through endless piles of paperwork, attending meetings across the county, taking and making calls, making decisions, negotiating agreements with other agencies, and much more. Again, let me stress that it is impossible to record all of the work that has gone into the formation and organization of Marriott-Slaterville City. The amount of effort and the number of hours spent by all of the volunteer city officials was extraordinary, invaluable, and well-appreciated. The month of July closed quickly as we worked putting things in order. Department heads spend numerous hours arranging procedures, sending letters, and planning events. Their great contributions to the city cannot go unnoticed. The city hall, prospects for municipal parks, road maintenance, successful activities, and numerous other effects are the results from their labors. Furthermore, the members of the boards and commissions were excited to get off to a running start. Under the direction of Randy Phipps, the Planning Commission put together the initial zoning and subdivision ordinances, and made plans to update the 1990 Marriott-Slaterville General Plan adopted by Weber County.
