Show The Pioneer Post Volume I Issue 2 Marriott-Slaterville City Newsletter November 1999 Council Message by Orvil Holley, City Council President After five full months as a city, Marriott-Slaterville has made remarkable strides forward in organization and implementation of our municipal government. Many individuals have volunteered, all working to lay a strong foundation for what we hope will be a City of which we can all be proud. As an example of our dedicated volunteers, one planning commission member attended a planning convention in St. George. Upon receiving a reimbursement check for travel expenses from the City, this person immediately turned around turned the check to the City uncashed. We all have been impressed with the high quantity and quality of work performed without any remuneration by both elected and appointed community residents. As a City Council we thank the citizens of Marriott-Slaterville for the support and encouragement you give, and for cutting us some slack as we try to learn our role as a new council. In behalf of the City Council, we wish you a happy holiday season and a happy and healthy new year. Council Meeting Update Thursday, December 2, 1999, 6:00 PM, agenda: 1. Please discuss any concerns regarding city executive staff or their actions with Mayor Butler or the city administrator.) Transportation/Public Safety by Dennis Illum, Transportation/Public Safety Director Winter is soon upon us with all its cold and snowy weather. There are several things we can do to get ready for a safe season. The Weber County Road Department will plow snow and sand our roads this winter. They will use the same priority plan used last year. Any winter road maintenance will also be done by Weber County, but scheduled by the City. If you notice something you feel needs to be repaired, please call and leave your name, phone number, and a your message at the city office; or contact Steve Mecham or Dennis Ilium and we can schedule a repairs if needed. We have a limited road budget, but there is adequate funding for our needs. The City's Transportation/Public Safety and Public Works Departments have tried very hard to keep encroachments into our roads at a minium. Contractors and Utility Companies have strict regulations to follow |
