This collection contains 74 diaries of Dr. Edward Rich and his wife Almira. They begin in 1892 and run through 1965. The bulk of this collection centers on Almira's diaries that run from 1897-1947. During that time she documented her personal life and the medical practice of Edward, the community of Ogden and national events such as the outbreaks of WWI and WWII. The diaries also include newspaper and magazine clippings, memorabilia and pins. |

Show MAY MONDAY 2 1892 Mitchell Indiana. Paris, Idaho Arrived in Montpelier at midnight last night. It was snowing and very muddy and all together unpleasant. William brought me over home It snowed all the way over. Mother was very glad to see me. TUESDAY 3 Very muddy in town: visited some of the family: and in fact have done nothing else but visit to day Nothing special Every thing here is just as usual MAY WEDNESDAY 4 1892 Paris Idaho It has been snowing and raining all day It is very muddy and it seems that it will never clear up I have been very chilly since getting home. Ate dinner at Nanies and spent an hour or so there. Nothing special in town. THURSDAY 5 Paris Idaho It snowed all night and has been storming all day. The snow melts nearly as fast as it falls, but the mud constantly multiplies. I have been in the house nearly all day all day in fact. Amasa and Mamie Allred called to day. |
