The city fathers insisted on decorous and wholesome recreation within Boulder City, yet deputy sheriff and Six Companies enforcer "Bud" Bodell ran poker games. Clearly these games were sanctioned by the Bureau of Reclamation since the strict city manager, Sims Ely, turned a blind eye. Some suspected that Bodell and Six Companies took a cut. The soda fountain in the recreation hall became a popular spot for workers and their families. |
