Contributors University of Colorado Museum of Natural History (catalog # UCM 5957)
Image Captions Close-coiled basket with leather strap, split-rod foundation and interlocking stitches from a dry cave within Dinosaur National Monument in northwestern Colorado. It measures 14 cm. in height and 19 cm. in maximum width, and exhibits a blend of Fremont and Ancestral Puebloan textile traits. When discovered in 1939, it contained noose peg snares, a net bag, three fishhooks and fishing line, and three bundles of over 100 game snares. One of these snares was radiocarbon dated at between A.D. 890 and 1150.
