Title Snares
Contributors Image provided by Brooke Arkush, Department of Anthropology and Sociology, Weber State University, Ogden, Utah
Image Captions Scissors snares from a dry cave on the Utah Test and Training Range in northern Utah. The snare sticks seem to be made from a local xeric plant, perhaps greasewood or salt bush, whereas the cordage that connects the sticks may consist of native hemp or milkweed. The size of these snares suggests that they were used mostly to capture smaller sized rodents such as ground squirrels and gophers.
