| Title |
Fremont Moccasin |

Fremont-style hock moccasin made from a single piece of deer hide. It was produced by cutting hide from a lower leg to form a flat piece of material, which was then sewn together, with the natural bend of the hock forming the heel. The moccasin has been stitched with animal sinew or hide cordage, and a leather thong has been attached to the ankle area to secure the footwear. It was worn hair side out, and apparently was not completely tanned. |
