Title Sucking Tube
Image Captions Shaman sucking tube from a Fremont site along the lower Weber River, northern Utah. Sucking tubes were (and still are) used during curing ceremonies among non industrial societies in many parts of the world. This specimen is made of steatite reputedly from the Spokane, Washington area. If this is true, then it represents an item of long distance trade, attesting to the far flung exchange networks that Fremont peoples were connected to.
