Title Cordage
Image Captions Strands of two ply plant fiber cordage from a dry cave in Box Elder County, Utah. The thicker specimen at right is an example of the S-spun, final Z-twist manufacturing technique, whereas the thinner piece of cordage at left was made with a Z-spun, final S-twist technique. These terms refer to the direction of the slant of cord segments when held vertically, and correspond to the slope direction in the midsections of letters Z and S.
