Weber College maintains a central Placement Bureau for the purpose of coordinating its various employment services by the following means: 1. Employment with the business and industrial firms of the state of Utah. For many years the Weber College Placement Bureau has been serving the employers of Ogden City and northern Utah by providing college-trained men and women to take care of their employment needs. 2. A continuous follow-up program. The Placement Bureau in cooperation with the Vocational teachers and coordinators of the institution keep in touch with former students and business employers to see that each group is served in an efficient manner. 3. Advisory Committees. These committees consist of employees and employers who sponsor the vocational courses in each field, counsel with the teachers, and promote the advancement and placement of the students. Naturally these commercial positions are given to students on the basis of their training and capability. The labor market is very sensitive and competitive, yet business executives recognize the superior ability of college-trained young men and young women. The purpose of the Weber College Placement Bureau is two-fold: first, to assist students to obtain part-time work while attending the College, and second, to assist graduates to obtain permanent positions. Students may avail themselves of these placement services upon entering the College. Weber College cooperates with the Utah State Employment Service. The Weber College Placement Bureau works continuously in cooperation with the Utah State Department of Placement. It is the purpose of their combined services to place every student who is seeking employment, and to follow up at all times the employment needs of the business and industrial firms of the state of Utah. This cooperative effort on the part of Weber College and the Utah State Department of Placement has been so successful that it resulted in the maintenance of a full-time Placement Officer, appointed to Weber College from the Utah State Department of Placement. His duties were assumed in the fall of 1940. Weber College maintains N.Y.A. and Campus Employment Bureau. Weber students receive benefit from N.Y.A. projects through the aid of the federal government. A small fund is made available for various projects in and about the College. The plan provides work for a limited number of students.
